GENERAL ENGLISH

This course is designed to help students build on their existing English skills, focusing on improving fluency and conversational abilities. Students will engage in meaningful discussions, learn how to confidently start and maintain conversations, and develop their ability to express themselves in real-life situations. The course emphasizes practical application of grammar, including modal verbs, tenses, and conditionals, which will help students express requests, make predictions, and discuss hypothetical scenarios.

Through a variety of speaking exercises, such as role-playing and monologues, learners will enhance their vocabulary and speaking accuracy. Additionally, students will practice ordering food, asking for directions, and engaging in small talk, ensuring they can navigate common social interactions with ease. This course is ideal for those aiming to refine their English skills and build confidence in both casual and formal conversations.

HERE IS THE DETAILED COURSE OUTLINE

  1. November 3rd, 2024

    Session 01: Introductions and Personal Information

    Students will learn how to introduce themselves and ask for personal information. The focus will be on using the present simple and present continuous tenses to describe their routines and current activities.

  2. November 10th, 2024

    Session 02: Hobbies and Free Time Activities

    This topic encourages students to discuss hobbies and free-time activities with others. They will practice the present perfect tense and gerunds to articulate experiences and ongoing interests.

  3. November 17th, 2024

    Session 03: Meeting New People

    Participants will practice starting and maintaining conversations, including making small talk and ending conversations politely. Emphasis will be placed on rhetorical questions and agreement phrases to facilitate smoother interactions.

  4. November 24th, 2024

    Session 04: Asking for Directions

    Students will learn how to ask for and give directions, as well as describe where they are going. The use of imperatives (e.g., “turn left,” “go straight”) will be emphasized to aid clear communication.

  5. December 1st, 2024

    Session 05: At the Restaurant

    This topic covers restaurant vocabulary, including how to order food, ask for the bill, and make complaints. Students will also learn about countable and uncountable nouns, along with the phrases "some," "any," "much," and "many."

  6. December 8th, 2024

    Session 06: Describing People and Places

    Participants will practice describing someone's appearance and discussing their city. The focus will be on using adjectives in comparative and superlative forms to express opinions and make comparisons.

  7. December 15th, 2024

    Session 07: Modal Auxiliary Verbs

    This week focuses on the use of modal verbs to express ability, permission, and requests. Students will construct sentences using modals like "can," "could," "may," and "might" in various contexts.

  8. December 22nd, 2024

    Session 08: Tenses

    Students will discuss current actions using the present continuous and emphasize the duration of ongoing activities with the present perfect continuous. The differences between past simple and past perfect tenses will also be explored.

  9. December 29th, 2024

    Session 09: How is the Dish Prepared?

    Participants will share a recipe of their choice, focusing on the use of sequencers and the present simple tense. Common spices vocabulary will be introduced to enhance culinary discussions.

  10. January 5th, 2025

    Session 10: Conditional Type Zero and Type 1

    This topic covers general truths and predictions using conditional sentences. Students will learn the structures and examples for both Type Zero and Type 1 conditionals to articulate facts and future possibilities.

  11. January 12th, 2025

    Session 11: Conditional Type 2

    Participants will express hypothetical situations and unreal scenarios using Type 2 conditionals. This week focuses on discussing dreams or wishes about the present or future with the appropriate structure.

  12. January 19th, 2025 ​​

    Session 12: Review and Practice

    The final week emphasizes practicing conversations using all learned topics, consolidating grammar rules, and reinforcing students' overall fluency and accuracy in English communication.
