VIDEO EDITING & VLOGGING

This course is designed to introduce students to the exciting world of video editing, guiding them through essential tools and techniques to create visually compelling content. Students will begin with an introduction to the fundamentals of video editing using industry-standard software like Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut. They will explore how to work with b-rolls, transitions, and effects, while also learning to incorporate elements from platforms like Canva.

The course includes practical assignments such as reel creation, giving students hands-on experience to sharpen their skills. Special guest sessions on presentation and production will provide further insights into the creative process. As the course progresses, students will transition to long-format content, editing teasers and stories, and by the end, they’ll be equipped to handle both short and long-form video projects. Perfect for budding content creators and aspiring video editors, this course will unlock creativity and technical prowess in the world of video production.

  1. November 3rd, 2024

    Session 01: Introduction, Discussion

    The course begins with an engaging introduction to the world of creative video editing, where participants will learn about the course structure and objectives. A group discussion will allow students to share their experiences and aspirations related to video editing. This session aims to set the foundation for understanding the importance of storytelling and creativity in video production.

  2. November 10th, 2024

    Session 02: Premiere Pro Basic Keys and Procedures

    In this week, students will be introduced to Adobe Premiere Pro, focusing on its basic keys and procedures. They will familiarize themselves with the interface, essential editing tools, and functions that are crucial for effective video editing. By the end of this week, participants will have the confidence to navigate the software and perform basic edits on their video projects.

  3. November 17th, 2024

    Session 03: B-Rolls and Elements (Canva and Premiere Pro)

    This session dives into the use of B-roll footage, which enhances the narrative and visual appeal of videos. Students will learn how to source and incorporate B-rolls effectively, using both Canva and Premiere Pro. Additionally, participants will explore adding graphic elements and text overlays to their videos, which will enrich their storytelling capabilities.

  4. November 24th, 2024

    Session 04: Transitions and Effects (Canva and Premiere Pro)

    Participants will explore various transitions and effects that can elevate their video projects. This week focuses on using Canva and Premiere Pro to apply creative transitions that enhance the flow of the video. Students will also learn how to incorporate special effects to add a professional touch and engage viewers more effectively.

  5. December 1st, 2024

    Session 05: In-Class Assignment (Reel Making)

    This week will feature a hands-on assignment where students will create their own video reels. They will apply the techniques learned in previous weeks to showcase their creativity and editing skills. This project will allow participants to experiment with different editing styles and techniques, reinforcing their learning through practical application.

  6. December 8th, 2024

    Session 06: Guests Session on Presentation

    Guest speakers Muhammad Tahir and Syed Abbas will conduct a special session focused on presentation techniques in video editing. Students will learn valuable insights on how to present their edited work in a professional manner, including tips on storytelling and audience engagement. This interactive session aims to enhance participants' confidence in showcasing their projects effectively.

  7. December 15th, 2024

    Session 07: Production Session

    This week will focus on the production aspect of video editing, featuring a session led by our production team. Students will gain hands-on experience in planning, shooting, and gathering content for their editing projects. This practical approach will help participants understand the entire video production process, from conception to execution.

  8. December 22nd, 2024

    Session 08: Intro to CapCut (Basic Keys and Procedures)

    An introduction to CapCut, a popular mobile video editing app, will take place this week. Students will learn the basic keys and procedures for editing videos on this platform, including its unique features that cater to mobile editing. This session aims to broaden participants' editing toolkits and provide them with versatile options for video creation.

  9. December 29th, 2024

    Session 09: CapCut and Premiere Reel Making (In-Class Assignment)

    This week, students will combine their knowledge of both CapCut and Premiere Pro to create video reels as an in-class assignment. This practical exercise will encourage students to explore the strengths of each platform and apply their editing skills creatively. By integrating techniques learned throughout the course, participants will enhance their overall video editing proficiency.

  10. January 5th, 2025

    Session 10: Introduction to Long Format (Teaser and Stories)

    Participants will learn about long-format video editing, focusing on the creation of teasers and storytelling. This week will cover the narrative structure and pacing needed to engage audiences over a longer duration. Students will explore techniques for building suspense and interest, ensuring their long-format videos are captivating and effective.

  11. January 12th, 2025

    Session 11: Teaser Editing

    This week is dedicated to the art of teaser editing, where students will learn to create short, engaging clips that generate interest in longer video content. Participants will explore techniques for condensing information while maintaining an impactful message. The goal is to equip students with the skills to craft compelling teasers that entice viewers to watch the full video.

  12. January 19th, 2025 ​​

    Session 12: Story Editing

    In this session, students will focus on the intricacies of story editing, learning how to enhance narratives through thoughtful editing choices. They will explore pacing, emotional beats, and the use of visuals to support the storyline. By applying these techniques, participants will refine their ability to tell stories that resonate with viewers.
